Green Security

Green Security covers the full range of transformational technologies that lead to a new view of security, these fall under five new security heads –

  • Information
  • Greening Security
  • Platform
  • People and Organisation
  • Visualisation

Information

  • Digital image generation (from CCTV, or other data mining).
  • Capacity to transmit and storage of large amounts of digital information.

Greening Security

  • Projects to improve legacy, reduction of energy waste.
  • Green technology uptake.
  • Improved coverage, security and functionality.

Platform

  • Driving standards and advice on procurement of security platforms and solutions.
  • Developing multiple Multi-sensor Control Platforms.
  • Providing real-time situational awareness of new threats.

People & Organisation

  • Community engagement.
  • Organisational change to achieve more streamlining of decision making.
  • Use of redundant resources through an organisation to achieve greater security.
  • Major reduction of Management and administration overheads.

Visualisation

  • Intelligent Analysis.
  • Security Visualisation.
  • 3D Vulnerability modelling and analysis.

So Where is this Convergence Leading?

In 2009, we can safely predict that we are going to see a huge leap forward in the New Green Security transformation, for three critical reasons.

  • The global credit crisis is forcing a fundamental rethink in the way we organise companies, and the old Command and Control view is being forced out and replaced by a more economically efficient (and technology related) command and influence based system of organisation.
  • The Green revolution is here, and UK, EU and US governments are going to spend on digital highways with an eye toward national economic revitalisation in order to stave off a deepening recession, and with a view toward achieving technological legacy in order to better utilise national economic and environments resources.
  • London 2012 will need to achieve a transformation edge if the threat of future Mumbai –styled terror attacks is to be reduced. This is because, the future attacks in major cities will involve fast moving, hard hitting multi teams of assailants, and only a robust integrated system that delivers a real-time situational awareness capability will be able to meet the challenge of this type of new threat.
